You Too Can Prevent an IT Fire

Before joining Sirona, I spent years working with deconstructed PACS systems where integrating individual vendor products created significant challenges. A simple software patch or upgrade could break the integration, setting off a cascade of problems that consumed weeks of troubleshooting.
Implementation Without Disruption
Sirona RadOS was built as a fully integrated, cloud-native platform with a single codebase. I understand IT managers’ concerns about system upgrades and changes—I personally spent months building server infrastructure for installations. Sirona addresses this by allowing implementation as an overlay, permitting integration with existing EMRs and DICOM/HL7 feeds without extensive IT resource requirements.
Sirona’s Zero Infrastructure Footprint
The traditional “rip and replace” model is painful. I recall setting up 15 different servers for a single vendor previously. Sirona requires only that studies be routed from existing PACS/RIS systems, adding minimal infrastructure complexity. The platform functions as another routing destination requiring only one integration point.
Evaluate with Live Reads and Full Load Test
Traditional implementations face testing difficulties. Sirona enables live reads immediately upon study routing, with bidirectional data flow. The platform normalizes data automatically—a process that previously required 100+ hours for larger clinics.
Cloud-Native Advantages
I’ll admit I was initially skeptical about cloud reliability, but the benefits speak for themselves: eliminated local hardware failures, simplified plug-and-play installation, and efficient daily administration. Cloud systems offer comparable uptime to on-premise servers while dramatically reducing the maintenance burden on IT teams.
Future-Proofing Remote Work
Traditional setups require multiple installed clients and virtual workstations per facility. Sirona requires only a web browser and internet connection, better supporting flexible workplace arrangements and reducing upgrade complications. As the healthcare workforce increasingly demands remote capabilities, cloud-native infrastructure is no longer optional—it’s essential.
